Students Taking Evaluations
What students do: access code, evaluate screen, self and peer scoring, submitting.
How students get in
Hand each student their access code (see Classes & Roster). On the login screen they use the Student tab and enter the code. No email, no password, no signup.
Choosing what to work on
- If the student is in one class with one open evaluation, they land straight on the evaluate screen.
- Otherwise they pick a class, then an evaluation.
The evaluate screen
Students see:
- your instructions for the evaluation,
- the rubric (collapsed by default, expandable for reference),
- a self evaluation entry if you enabled it,
- the peer roster they are assigned to evaluate, each row showing whether they have already scored that person,
- a progress count (“Rated X of Y”) with a Not rated / Rated / All filter.
When self evaluation is on, classmates stay locked until the student saves their
own self evaluation. Tapping a classmate expands their row: the student scores
each criterion on the slider, and the rating saves automatically once every
criterion has a score (or with the Save button). Partial scores stay only on that
device and are never sent, so a dropped connection or closed tab does not lose
work. A student with no fair basis to rate a classmate (for example, they never
worked together) is told to leave that classmate unrated rather than guess. Each evaluation is one submission per
(period, evaluator, target). Re-opening a peer they already scored lets them
revise until the evaluation closes.
Notes
If the evaluation allows notes, students can leave a short written comment with it. Notes may be screened automatically and held for your approval before anyone sees them (see Monitoring & Moderation).
Submitting and finishing
There is no single “submit all”; each peer is submitted on its own. A student is done when they have met the minimum and scored everyone in their assigned scope. They can come back and adjust any time before the evaluation closes.
Seeing results
Nothing is visible to a student until you release the evaluation. After release, the same student login shows their own results only, never anyone else’s, and never who said what. If fewer than 3 peers evaluated them, results are withheld entirely. See Student Portal.
